Hi, I live in Trowbridge, and last week, sometime around 22.00 there was a very low and vey noisy jet flying around, im sure its got something to do with RAF Keevil. it had very little in the way of lights on it, apart from two red lights, one on the top and one on the bottom. it sounded old, bit like a tristar, and it was low, maybe less than 1000ft. it went round in circles for about and hour. this isnt the first time ive seen it either. it always flies at night, its really pissing me off as i dont know what it is. I thought it might be a C17 but it sounds too old and harsh for that, its similer in size to a fal albert - and we get loads of them around here. i checked with RAF Lyneham and they knew nothing about it.

Any ideas?

C17s (and C130s) use Keevil for day and night ops and para drops. At night you'll often get C17 in for NVG approaches. Have no knowledge of Tristar using the place.
