Cerb vs M3 vs M5

I haven't posted to the Cerb forum in a while even though I've been on here since 2002 but I thought you might find this one interesting.
My Cerb had a small problem in January - I had a Saxo up my arse so smiled and engaged the load pedal. Embarrassingly, the back end snaked all over the place so I couldn't get away from it - oh dear. I eventually fixed the problem with some bravery but it was a struggle. Got home, put the Cerb in the garage and found most of the contents of the sump on the floor in the morning. Oil on the rear tyres - I think so.
The short story is that the oil cooler failed and had painted my rear tyres with the slippery stuff. No engine damage but I've been suffering withdrawal symptoms since I had to 'post' my Cerb from the Isle of Man to the UK so I could get it fixed. I've had a little more replaced than I intended so haven't seen it since February.
I would have gone crazy by now but was lucky enough to win a prize at a charity do last month which gave me four BMWs of my choice over four weeks. A real highlight was the M3 - I had driven a 2006 model in the past which had a confidence sapping lurchy gearbox but the 2010 model is one of the most planted cars I have ever driven. I'm running an M5 this week which is also cracking car but for pure driving pleasure the Cerb runs rings around both of them. Its quicker, turns more heads and is just more fun. Oh, and the M5 drinks more fuel than a 4.5 Cerb does…. a lot more.
Anyway, thats just my tuppenceworth.

Good post Phil - thats the 'thing' about the Cerbera isn't it. There are plenty of better and faster cars out there. I don't care what anyone says, a modern top of the range fast hatch would keep up with a Cerb in everyday driving, let alone something like an M5, which is a superbly engineered car, and an awesome machine. But nothing compares to the raw excitement and that 'sense of occasion' you get from driving a Cerbera, that is what makes it so special.
