Good spot.

I'm pleased to see BMW have finally fitted decent brakes to their //M cars.

Was the E39 there in an official capacity too?

Anyone put a deposit down on the new m5 yet? I'm looking around at e60 m5s but the stock is not that appealing so thinking about getting a new one.

That doesn't look like an E39 M5 to me, the rear view mirror looks square to me but it's not that clear.

I'd have thought they'd have used the on site fuel station at the Nurburgring, like this estate version I saw when there mid May.

The earlier ones had square rear view mirrors.

I was going to, but it looks as if I'm going to need something that fits three child seats, so the M5 is off the list.

Congratulations! biggrin
If it helps, I was able to fit 3 child seats in a row in the m5; 2 group 1 seats and a small group 2/3 booster in the middle. The kids were aged 3, 3 & 5 at the time. It was a bit tighter than the x5 (and took longer to get them strapped in), but it wasn't that big a deal. Plus, the new 5 series is a couple of centimetres wider than the e60.

Perhaps then I buy an X5 with the third row for a couple of years, then switch back to a new M5. Next year, they'll be 5, 2 and new, so I can't see three seats fitting, with a newborn rear-facing one amongst them. Two years later though....

It's killed off my idea of stretching the budget to a Rapide.

Sounds like a good plan. I tested the x35d again recently and it was pretty nimble tho' the diesel soundtrack was not exactly music to my ears. The new x50 is quite appealing but if my experience of the e53 4.4 is anything to go by, its value will drop like a brick in the next couple of years so a trade-in would be very painful.

I'm tempted by the X50i, but I know that he only sensible choice is the new X40d. The trouble is that a diesel is just a step too far.

ETA: how about this sneaky plan - buy an X50i. Keep it, but buy an M5 (a year old) too. Economic lunacy, but avoids confronting the painful truth of the trade-in. I'm avoiding it with the E60 by keeping it for the best part of five years from new, thus spreading the paid.

Difficult one, but if you can get away with it, I'd do it! That's pretty much the set up that I'm edging towards (other half permitting). That x50 does look quite saucy.
