McLaren F1 20th Birthday Bash

Pic Gallery: Biggest ever F1 collection gathers at Woking party

McLaren has issued some great new pictures of its 20th Anniversary bash celebrating the start of the F1 supercar programme.

The firm invited F1 owners past and present to a celebration dinner at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, England last month. The following day, after an insight into McLaren Automotive's plans for a future range of high performance sports cars, the owners were treated to a display of 21 McLaren F1 road and race cars, apparently the largest number of F1 cars ever assembled in one place.

Ron Dennis, McLaren Automotive Executive Chairman, said:
"The F1 is a technological tour-de-force and a real triumph in terms of packaging and design. Whether endurance racing or on road, it is supremely fast, agile and yet comfortable. Its styling is enduring and will never fade. I enjoy driving mine more today than ever before because I find its technical purity highly satisfying; the F1 remains one of McLaren's proudest achievements."

McLaren's celebration of the 20th anniversary of the F1 will continue throughout the year, and you can see both the F1 and 12C together at this summer's Goodwood Festival of Speed, which takes place from 2-4 July 2010. So you'll be needing a ticket then!

simply amazing. i think the days of these types of cars are over. circa 1100kgs and over 600bhp is mental. supercars these days usually are 200+ kgs heavier due to safety regs and stuff.

this is, and always has been, my favourite car.

Any chance we could have some wallpapers? The Jag POTW isn't doing it for me (neither has the last two weeks for that matter).

I'll take the one with....... Oh who am I trying to kid, I'll take ANY one of them!

Always remember Tiff giving one gravy on a track on old Top Gear. I think even he was shocked at how brutal and intense it was.

Quite simply the greatest car ever made. So far head when it came out,is still as as fast as most hypercars today.. no other car can claim to be competitive 10 years on let alone 18.

The article in EVO is really good, just read it. I agree about the potw, any picture will do. The F1 really is my dream car, i can't think of anything id prefer and doubt there will be. I was only 5-6 when it came out so it is also my poster car.
