Has anybody routed cold air from the A/C unit to behind the seats, or can anyone think of a reason why not to do it? Also, has anyone any ideas on how best to split the blown air from the A/C so that I can route it easily to more than the standard 4 outlets, and control where it goes to (I'm thinking its probably best to look at how mainstream cars do this, but any pointers would be appreciated)? Thanks.

Hi Clive
Not sure that it would be that cold by the time it got to the rear if indeed there was enough 'puff' from the unit to get it there! The way I've split the hoses into more than one outlet is to use the plumbing tees from B&Q (other DIY stores are available) but only within the dash area. If you wanted to control the direction ala OEM units then it's Vintage Air, their units have electronic doors on them controled by a four button panel (screen/floor/air con etc) but I'm not too sure they would fit under the dash without modification, I do know they do a compact unit though.

ETA. Car Builder Solutions do a Y piece that has a vane in it to control direction, not sure how you would rig it up though, plus a tad expensive at £25 each.

Don't think they have any over here, I believe that Jeff Schwartz is a dealer, at least he could confirm what would fit under there.

I have looked at every Vintage Air unit they do. Unfortunately due to the height restriction of the dash there's not enough room for any of the other Evaporators other than the unit we use now.
The issue with the GTR is that the Cabin is really an enclosed space with no though cabin venting from outside like all production cars have. Windscreen misting was a real pain on my car, and always had to turn the AC unit on to dry out the air when it was raining outside.

Whats needed is a source of colder air from the front of the car, and a low pressure outlet to allow air flow though the cabin. Yes the bottoms of the doors has no seal and some air can escape there, but it's not really into a low pressure area, and therefore not as effective.

I think quite a few people have brought in fresh air from the front clip lower Vents, I'm trying to make a easier setup that involves less plumbing but has air coming from a high pressure area on the front clip closer to the screen. Also feeding the Heater/AC unit directly so all the vents can get fresh air forced by the fan if I want. Every car I own when you direct the air to the screen the air comes from outside not recirculated. I know we have Kit Cars and by that reason some things aren't as good as multi Million pound companies can make, but there's no reason why they cant be closer to a production car in all area's with a little thought and some engineering or maybe Development...

Clive; might I suggest that you look at the Vintage Air sight and consider the long skinny defroster outlets rather thsen the 2.5 round outlets inclded in the kit. I woud assume that with the rain that you ENJOY? in England that demisting the screen is worth some attention. Lee
