You will need to provide a lot more information about
your budget
your abilities
the space available
how fast you want to go
which styles you like
before anybody is able to provide any useful suggestions.
I can't think of any sites which are aimed at beginners, you might be better starting with some magazines, and, better still, visiting a kit car show or at least your local club (if there is one)

more details would help
but there are always a few people in the same boat as you over on locostbuilders.co.uk

Think of how much you and your mate want to spend each. Add the amounts together.
Now halve it.
The resultant sum is how much you will have to spend on the kit.
The other 50% will go on test fees, wheels, bling, insurance, odd bits and pieces , trailer hire, car tax etc etc.
My advice, if you have no car building experience, would be to go for a cheap unfinished kit of whatever description off ebay or the specialist mags and build it.
If you and your mate don't have the ability not a lot is lost as its cheap in the first place and you can punt it along to the next hopeful probably getting your cash back.
If you do complete the build you will have all the joy of driving along in something you rescued, smiling broadly and can shout disparaging comments at all the " bought cars".
Then buoyed up by the enthusiasm of your first build you can then decide exactly what your true hearts desire and build it, using the sale of kit car no 1 to fund part of it.
Worked for me and my mate.
Chers,
Tony
