Evening everyone.

Do any of you if it is possible to remove the trim in the E39 5 series, with ease? Looking at a lot of 'perfect' cars however, they all seem to have wood trim!

Thanks in advance smile

Yes you can, the difficulty is locating a set of aluminium trim because so many people want them.

Hi there,

Yes, it's fairly easy to remove the trims and replace or paint/wrap them. The door, passenger front dash and two pieces either side of the steering wheel simply 'pop'off. The harder ones are the radio flap cover and the console. With a little work, these will also come out relatively easily.

The genuine aluminium, any of the M5, and piano black type trims still command a good premium as replacements. I have a really really nice set of Technical Graphite E39 trims here which I'll be looking to move on soon as I'm waiting on a Vavona set I had to come back to me with a new cover on them!

Cheers, Dennis!

Buy yourself a set of Vavona wood trim for around £25 on ebay.
Then refinish it to the colour of your choice. I paid a local french polisher £40 to spray mine piano black and laquer it. The finish is as good as OEM for a fraction of the price.

They just pull off for the most part, the cassette/cd trim is trickier but still easy. I redone all my wood trim the other week and it looks like a different car, will put up pictures tomorrow.
