over keen moderation?

I have just been posting in a thread on SP&tL which has now been closed by Kinky as apparently it's a duplicate.

I can't find the supposed 'original' thread and in any case the one I was posting in was 'live'; discussion was ongoing.

I think it would be a great help if mods posted a link to the 'original' thread instead of just closing the thread with the words 'duplicate thread' or 'repost'...it seems a bit rude, like snatching something away.

I haven't posted on that thread. I could not find it with the search function. The mod who closed the active thread we were posting on most recently could have posted a link. That would be helpful. Thanks for finding it.

Search doesn't keep a record of anything posted in the last 24 hours, so that won't help.
A quick click on what's new or using Google to search PH instead should have found it though.

Usually Kinky does put a link into the other thread so i can only presume he was otherwise occupied.

Just to change the subject slightly, i personally dont think the moderation is over keen, not when you consider how long Gaz left it before closing down that thread in the lounge. Some days its spot on, others its a bit more...............relaxed. I'm just glad gaz did close that thread

whilst I have no problem with the thread being locked due to it's content, I do feel that Gaz's personal opinion (Which I FULLY agree with) shouldn't have been included in a thread locking post.

All mods have opinions and rightly so, but it's a shame that he couldn't post a seperate post outlining his views before then adding a post locking the thread.

It does throw up the issue of trying to wear two hats, that of moderator, and that of an individual with an equally valid and personal opinion. It's a difficult task, and one where a good balance may not be easy to achieve.

This is not a critisism of Gaz, just an observations on personal opinions and mods.

Thanks for your thoughts Gaz, as I said it's just the issue of personal opinion and moderator "duties" if you like. Not one of you having a valid personal opinion, or your freedom to post it.
