Hi, Please could I have a little assistance in changing the background of this picture from white to black. I have been trying for ages and I cannot do it an I am here as a last resort. Thank you.
The easiest way is to create a path around the chili, select the inverse and then fill that area in black.Problem is that the shadow from the chili would be lost with a black background, but i dont think that would matter too much.
Here is a very quick and rough result. (i just used a quick magnetic lasso tool for this, but you could obtain a much better result using a vector clipping path.
One should always first start with the high-res image first, as this makes life much easier.
A relatively decent result (magic wand, polygon selection, 1px contraction and 1px feathering):
Note that it is impossible to get a natural-looking result, because the surface of the chilli is glossy and reflects a lot of the lightbox surroundings. Said chilli, even when isolated, would look totally different if taken in a black box.
