Yep. Disappointing - I thought he was doing well. Wonder how Cameron will deal with this.

Lembit Opik is on Five Live defending him now....according to the ex MP we shouldn't sack him cos David Laws is too good at his job.

Sorry, someone who has knowingly defrauded the taxpayer to the tune of £40k should be trusted with finance? No, he should be in prison.

I thought a huge part of the de-criminalising and acceptance of homosexuality was to avoid this sort of thing happening, he's a homosexual it doesn't matter...... unless it leads to corruption.

I think he has to go. CMD was clear that Parliament needed to be cleaned up. So he now HAS to get rid of this bloke IMHO, if the story is true.

I'm amazed he's still 'in position' this morning.

And Clegg needs to pull the trigger.

There was a vacancy in my local paper for a Brown Pipe Engineer, Laws sounds ideally qualified for this position should he need a new job.

An interview with the police is the minimum. A prima faci case of fraud to answer, he continued claiming after the rules were altered in 2008.

And what a pathetic little weasel to squirm and say they're not a real couple... Beyond laughable.

Stated on the news this morning that it's Cameron's decision, not Clegg's.

Cecil Parkinson! smile

Laws must think we're all thick. He can't have it both ways, saying he was protecting his private life but on the other hand saying they were not partners. What a dimwitted excuse.

It comes to something when it is seen as a credit if CamClegg sack him; whereas the decent thing would be for Laws to resign (OK -'decent' or 'honourable' would mean not defrauding the taxpayer in the first place.)

I wonder who grassed him up at this particular point? Maybe the Tortgraph has known since the expenses scandal broke, and has kept quiet so as to 'play' now.

Blackadder: Right. Now all we have to do is fill in this MP application form.
.
....
.
Blackadder: Now, "Any history of insanity in the family?"... Tell you what. I'll cross out the "in." "Any history of sanity in the family?" ... None whatsoever. Now, "Criminal record?"
Baldrick: Absolutely not.
Blackadder: Oh, come on, Baldrick, you're going to be an MP, for God's sake! Look, I'll just put "Fraud and sexual deviancy".
