Just bought a game from Steam, been trying to download it for 3 hours but just keep getting a 'Server too busy' error.
Is this normal when dealing with Steam?

It depends what game you've bought, if its new or has been on offer then chance are loads of people have bought it and are trying to download it, the server cant cope with it and wont let you download it till they arent as busy, hope this answered your question

Well it's actually very old (Serious Sam) but perhaps they just have high usage today or something. Bit annoying that it's all supposed to be so easy and then you can't get what you've bloody paid for. Wanted to play it co-op today.

In the steam main program go to the top and find settings. Once in there find the location tab. Make sure that UK is selected and the correct broadband speed is selected.

Every known again it changes randomly to some other country.

I've been using Steam for years and never seen this. As said check your settings.

First thing I tried fellas, everything correct but still no good. It's now 8 hours since the purchase and constant 'Try in a few minutes' messages.
Getting on my effing nerves now.

I have Left 4 dead retail so I just tried registering/playing it on Steam, exactly the same error.

Definitely something wrong here.
