removing radio

I've a mk1 tuscan with the original radio and it's time to up grade it, might sound daft but how do you get the old radio out and would a DAB radio be any better. It's rarely used, would just like something better in the car.

You need a set of radio keys for a kenwood unit. Others may fit but they are all a little different. Halfrauds or flee bay if you can wait. I tried a DAB radio in my Tam, it was still poor, even with an expensive DAB areial fitted. I now stick to the IPOD or listen to the engine!

as already said radio keys needed to remove old unit, very simple.

I have just upgraded to an Alpine ida x305s, which will interface with an iphone for digital radio using a program called panorama, although i dont use it as i dont have an iphone

TBH the radio reception is much improved anyway, i can get several stations that were hopeless with my standard pioneer set, on standard analogue.

If you've got an early mk1 like me, you've got to take the radio pod off the dash, (retaining bolt underneath), and then undo the long allen bolts at the rear of the pod. THey run from fron to back of the leather radio pod and the chrome facia front and back. Once you've done that its all straight forward.

I put the Apline XDA in mine 6 monthys ago and havent looked back. If you're swapping out the original Pioneer too, you will find that the plug going onto the old headunit does plug into a standard ISO block behind the dash so you don't need to butcher the cables, just find the ISO block.
