Hi All

I was in a watch store yesterday and they had a video ad rolling for the TAG Heuer 36 RS described itself as having a caliper for calculating the fractions of a second when using the stopwatch.

Geek question: Surely that should be described as a vernier scale for calculating the fractions of a second?

My understanding is that in a vernier caliper, the caliper is the bit that goes around the object being measured and the vernier scale is the bit that is used for calculating the fractions of a mm, inch or whatever.

Or am I wrong?
