Got fed up of hoovering dog hairs from the the boot of our e46 touring that I bought a boot liner that covers the entire boot area, including backs of the rear seats and side panels. The trouble is to fit it I need to remove the rear headrests so that I can hook the liner under them before refitting them.

Anyone offer any advice for getting the bcensoredy things out? I've pulled as hard as possible in the confined space and they only seem to move up a single notch then no further. I can't see anything I need to press to release them as per the fronts. Anyone done this?

The car's a 2001 E46 Sport Touring if that makes any difference.

Cheers,
Graham

No problem, I bought off ebay. There were lots that covered the bottom of the boot but this one covers the entire boot area. Not cheap though.

ebay link

... assuming you can get the head rests off that is!! biggrin

Edited to say: I've emailed the seller to see what advice he comes back with.

Seller of the boot liner emailed me back to say:-

"Many thanks for your email
We spoke with BMW about the headrests on the E46 and they have advised us that approx 1 in 10 cars are fixed rear headrests
We will go ahead and dispatch a free split ring kit asap"

Seems strange that some come out but others don't. Anyway if he sends the split ring kit as promised I'll be able to fit the boot liner so problem solved. Makes more sense this way as I assume I'll be able to simply unclip and remove as required.
