I have lived in my pretty nice area for the past 8 years, but have a small house and have to leave two of my cars on the street. Now, I am quite careful but for whatever twice over the past couple of months I have gone out in the morning to find my BMW 7 series unlocked and a door opened. 1st time, I thought my daughter may have left the door open the night before, but over a few days I realised I was missing some pound coins and keys to my parents house. This evening, same thing again, lost my iphone connector, my wife's Maui Jim Sunglasses and some more pound coins. Now, I don't know why the car is unlocked, I make sure I lock up the car at night, but could it be that while my keys are in my pockets in the house, the buttons get pressed or when my wife goes out she accidently opens the wrong car (she has a key on her keyring).

Anyway, having lost £80 of stuff today, I am angry and want to find out who is getting in my car and nicking stuff. I am thinking hiding a mini wifi camera in the car, or maybe one with a built-in micro SD card. Any ideas? recomendations?

1. Buy this. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/8GB-SPY-CAMERA-digital-car-k...

2. Take any sort of valuables out of the car, and take one of the battery terminals off or pull the ignition fuse to avoid it being driven.

3. Hide the Keyring Camera somewhere, and then leave the car unlocked overnight with the Camera left recording.

4. Keep doing this until you know something has been stolen (Leave a empty Games Console case on the seat or something...) and then review the footage.

5. ???

6. REVENGE!

Get some beers, camo, big tourch, and a camp chair. Sit in a bush and wait. Anybody comes near the car give a swift tap with the torch on the back of the knees. This will sort them right out.

I've a cheaper solution. Take the car keys out of your pocket when you get home at night, and take the spare fob off your wifes keyring.

If the car still unlocks itself it's probably a ghost which a camera wouldn't pick up anyway.
