Hi,
I have an 06 2.5 auto. Sometimes in the morning it is a little sticky when moving from Park to reverse. When i try later in the day it seems ok. Is there something I shouldbe looking for? I do make sure that my foot is on the foot brake before I do this...

If it does this in the morning (when the car is cold), it could be something to do with the transmission fluid. There is talk of the fluid needing changing at a certain mileage, not sure when exactly. I think your gearbox might be sealed also, but someone on here will be able to give you more info. I had a range rover auto that did the same, it got worse over time, becoming slower to react to gear changes etc, did a fluid and filter change and it sorted it.

An 06, 2.5 what?? X or S.Sounds like a brake switch or linkage issue.

You may have the begining of clutch drum failure, though if it were, it becomes worse with use and you will loose top gear also.We have autologic diagnostics here, but any your nearby specialists should have the same equipment.Suitable testing will result in accurate diagnostics.Happy to help.

get someone to check the brake lights are on when the problem is present if they are not on change the brake light switch as this is the most common issue.

Thanks for the replies. I think(hope) I have found the problem. I park on a gravel drive and the stones have ramped up slightly. I was stopping, putting it in park and I think the was a little movement backwards in the transmission loading it up. I have made sure there is no roll back for the last couple of days and it has come out of park fine....

My x300 will be a little difficult coming out of park if parked on an incline/decline. I've been informed that the transmission mount/s might be worn.
