Kids playing football in the street...
Discussion
There is a cul-de-sac outside my student house, in which groups of young kids regularly play football. Now these kids dont seem like bunch of chavvy scrots, but what gets me as they seem to regularly just smash the ball, hitting it off cars and houses with no respect for their owners.
Luckily our house has a private driveway around the corner so my car is safe. It not like the cars out there are anything special, but I struggle to understand how the kids parents just let this go on. I can put up with the constant shouting and screaming, but am I the only one who would get royally pissed off if my car was one of the ones getting hit 10 times a day and almost every day?
EDIT: b
k, i've just noticed the typo in my title

My Nan lives right outside a small playpark (Swings, slides, etc.) and it is quite a nice area, but there are always Chavs and whatnot hanging around in the park until late at night drinking, kicking the ball up the House and Cars.
They were annoying not only due to there lack of respect for property, but the fact that as soon as you leave the house and they catch contact of you, they would shout abuse even if you was not to make eye contact.
Unfortunately one night, I got pushed over the edge. For some reason, they decided to pick on my Nans house that night and one of them was banging VERY hard on the door. I snapped, opened the door and gave the little s
t a punch clean in the jaw sending him down like a bag of spuds. Half an hour later, his Dad comes round and we get into an argument (No fisty cuffs though) and at one point, the guys says "Yeah mate, you need to calm down innit. There just cars mate. It's just the youth of today. Itz what they do". MY BLOOD WAS BOILING! How could someone think like that?!
Anyway, long story short, I convinced my Nan to report any little disturbances to the Council and the Police. After 3 Months, a petition was put out to remove the park, and it got approved! The area is now blissfully quiet and all the chavvy little f
kers buggered off. Result!

NateWM, you are my hero. whilst i agree 'they're just cars' when there is a problem (written off, stolen, broken beyond repair), they are invaluable when you need them. hope the little scrote in question learnt a lesson

The fact that people can have this attitude makes me want to commit murder! Finally the kids have been called inside by their mother, no doubt they will be out in a few minutes to carry on their assult.
reminds me of an event in some pub doing archery, some lads thought it really funny to kick their ball towards the target, after the second time, they were warned the ball would be shot on the third time....
so they kicked it out way and a nice big arrow took the wind out of their sails, the father stormed over to try and give it some grief., but failed

I agree 100%. If I or someone else ever accidentally damages my car, then I just think "No bother, just a car, it can be fixed" but when someone does it on purpose, I start to see red. I saved for the car and I bought it with my own hard earned monies. It just gets me really irritated when they touch something that they have no right to.champ54321 said:

Doesn't it just! Really irritates me when I hear people with this kind of attitude. I just cannot comprehend how someone can possibly think it is acceptable for their kids to damage property and be so damn rude to people! thinfourth2 said:
Now i guess it is a modern housing scheme in which case the gardens of the houses if they have ones will be about the size of a postage stamp so kids have nowhere other then the street to play
True, its 1970s estate and if their garden is like ours it wont be very big. But there are open green areas they could use. The attitude of some parents really grinds my gears. First of all they think being a parent gives them the right to inconvenience everyone else (and when I complain I get "obviously you don't have kids"), and then that same c***ish attitude rubs off on their c***ing gene pool diluting mongoloid offspring when they're old enough to be out and about on their own.
The kids on my estate have a novel way of dealing with the problem of their garden being too small to play football. They wait until the neighbours have gone to work, move their wheelie bin next to the locked gate and jump over for a kick about in someone else's garden. Resourceful little f***ers.

I had this at my uni place. I just repeatedly went mad at them, and I mean proper foaming at the mouth making the younger ones cry mad.
Me and next door teamed up so that whenever we saw any of them they would get told to clear off. If they were there when I got home they would soon dissappear without me having to say anything.

I remember playing football/tennis/just arsing about on the road outside when I was a kid. We had gardens etc, but we did block the road and cause people to slow down when driving. We weren't any trouble, but can now see we'd have been a nuisance.
On the occasions I get narked by kids I must admit I take a mental step back (as in...a step back in my head...not taking a psychopathic run up) and ponder just what I was like. Did the balls hit cars, yes, was it deliberate, no, did it ever cause damage, no.
Just putting forward the flipside...

Had this at my parents hosue a few years ago. Guy moves into the street and spends a fortune doing up this houe. Superb job - it even got in the national papers.
Anyway, one day his kids (Not chavvy just ordinary kids) start a kick about. I see the ball narrowly miss my old man's car, so out I pop for a chat with the kids. No problem, they go away to where they live. They weren't playing outside their home just a bit down the road.
Then the Dad comes over. He's not happy. " I grew up round here" He tells me. Well so did I and if I'd kicked a ball at a neighbours car I'd have been for the high jump. Then he starts raging on about the kids have no-where to play as there is no back garden at the house. True, he'd turned the back garden into a very nice multi level couryard. Great for adults, crap for kids. The houses are 2 mins from a big park and 5 mins from 2 beaches.
Not my problem mate if you bought a house for adults and have kids.
Still he was having none of it.
I walked across the road with him because there was something I wanted to show him. He had a fabulous brand new Defender 110 in a nice metallic grey. I walked up to it, tapped on the door. "Hmmmm Aluminium that. Strong but bends easily. Hows about I pop down the pub, find some mates (If you grew up round here, you'll liely meet some old chums) and come back to my mums for an old skool kick about? We'll put the goal just in front of the Landy shall we? You can join in, we'll get some local kids to join in."
There then followed a "You touch my car, I'll have you arrested." type of chat. He kind of proved my point that football wasn't an appropriate game in the street.
Story ends here, but as a footnote.
Never saw the poor sod again - or his kids.
I heard 6 months or so later, he'd topped himself in the garage.

We had this exact same situation where we used to live and we were at the end of the straight run on the end of the cul-de-sac and they played footie at our drive and cars and the ball regularly bounced off our cars and crashed into the garage door a heck of a bang.
There wasn't really a great deal we could do about it but we did take the ball away a few times.
However, I did go apes
t when I spotted them playing cricket, using our cars as the stumps and a full size/weight cricket ball
That ball went straight in the dustbin and they got a right flea in the ear.

We have a bunch of kids in our road, who despite being the progeny of a mother and father who have only formed a relationship since breeding, all look the same. Well, this is Somerset I suppose.
Despite this being a fairly uniform design of street, they come down to outside mine for a kickabout, rather than outside their own house.
Oh, and it must be all of 200 yards to the nearest playground.
