I am in the middle of buying a Range Rover (4.6 V8 goodness) for my brother and when I have finally purchased it I will be driving it about for a month before he comes to collect it and take it home to France.

So i need to insure it. I have currently got my car insured with Adrian Flux and have 5 years protected no claims on it, I don’t really want to take out insurance for a year the cancel it after a month so basically what I’m asking is there any companies that specialize in short term ( a month tops ) car insurance?

Don’t no if it matters but I’m 25 years old, have 3 points on my license with no accidents in the last 5 years.....

What can pistonheads recommend?

Thanks

dayinsure seems to be the favourite.

Usually requires the car to have fully comp insurance already on the car, dayinsure just covers a driver to drive it not provide short term insurance in the way you think.

This is normal practice for short term insurance it seems, can you not get your brother to insure the car in France now and add you as a second driver? just make sure the policy covers driving in the UK?

Ask about adding it as a second vehicle on your policy, I've done it in the past when selling a car after having bought its replacement before selling the first, it may cost a bit but the car will be insured.

No sorry im not insured with them but the company i work for if you have a policy on car you can add temporary vehicles for up to a 120 days per policy term ( at a cost obviously). probably worth trying that 1st with adrian flux could be cheaper than going through one of those temp cover places as i've heard they can be expensive with high excesses ( dont take my word for it, its just what policyholders have told me ), shame adrian flux closed though.

Seems like a call to Flux on tuesday morning could be in order, i wonder how much a months cover could rob me!

I can insure the car for £422 a year - thats just off confused.com!

Will have to see how a month running a v8 goes, may have to look at one for myself!

eCar insurance will do short term insurance from 1 to 28 days. No idea what the price is like, though

Where have you read that? I've used it before to insure a car, no mention that it had to be insured fully comp elsewhere.

Definitely give Flux a call - I change my car about every 20 minutes, and they're always happy to do me short term cover while I'm in the process of moving one on.

Hello we can add temporary additional vehicles so it's worth giving us a call to see what we can do.
