I think it has increased instructions but not sales.

Natural that more people will test the market when it costs nothing to do so I'd have thought.

Increase or not, at least some non-jobber isn't paid £500 for putting some useless paperwork into a folder. Result.

The info in the HIP stopped me wasting time and money on a potential purchase. I can't be the only one where search info presented up front was useful.

It was the the building regs decisions. Saved me from putting in an offer etc only to find at a later date that a load of work had been done, applications done under regs but no sign-off at a later date.

If the searches are sufficiently timely for a solicitor to use then having the info available upfront is a good thing for me. Much more use than the EPC!
