Making sparks

What will make sparks when rubbed hard against steel? The effect I'm after is like those biker knee sliders that spark when rubbed on the road, only instead of tarmac this is steel.

Any ideas?

Well if the biker knee straps are made out of steel... maybe you need knee straps that are made out of tarmac

Is it moving?

You need to cut tiny bits of the steel off very quickly, so quickly that it gets hot enough to burn (well glow).
