OK so 6 days in and all is well.

Was out yesterday and got caught in some pretty heavy, slow traffic for longer than I would have liked but all seemed ok. Once out of the traffic and after a fuel stop I noticed it was hard to get in to 2nd, 3rd when changing down but thought it was just me getting used to the set up. Once I pulled in to my drive and was rolling along in 1st, I put my foot on the clutch to stop but the car stalled, just like I had braked to a stop without using the clutch. Although the pedal was fully depressed it was like it was still in gear.

It could have been me being lazy and not having the clutch pedal all the way down or it could have been something else. Any ideas?
Brought the car to work this morning just to check and everything is back to perfect, do they suffer from hot transmission probs?

I`d check your fluid level and bleed the slave cylinder.

Cheers, had similar thoughts. Believe I have to take the cover off that goes round the back of the engine bay to do that?

No (but thats not difficult)

On the offisde wing there is a black rubber disk (about 6") all stuck down with gungy stuff. You have the get that off I believe (says the chap with zero mechanical knowhow). Clutch reservoir is under there.

Never done it myself but dont think its a big job?

Actually had the same thing last week. I've had many a clutch in the past and initially thought the fingers or seals had gone. Like yours most gears unslectable and when in first it just stalled.

I spoke to RP and the slave does suffer from heat soak, and once it boils it will happen time after time. I also had to check the levels and bleed it. Locate the black "knuckle" next to the drivers airbox. Remove top, Check no black bits in, remove if there is. Bleed system, I did on mine and the oil that came out was horrible colour. Nice new 5.1 in there. Remember watch your paint and seal knuckle back down, as notorious for letting water in.

Photo with cover removed. Mind there are 2 to 3 small screws burried in the black gue.

Thats was how mine started, then got worse and worse over the next few months. Suggest you treat yourself to a new slave cylinder.

Will take a look, cheers guys. I need to check but I think it had a new slave recent-ish.

Probably just the heat soak.

I've also been through a few slave cyls. The RP seems to have lasted far longer to me than the standard item. I've not measured the actual mileage yet to compare

once the oil goes through this cycle it will happen time and time again. brake and clutch fluid as I'm sure you know absorbs water - once in will cause havoc. I would change it for piece of mind, as soon as it gets hot again you'll be struggling to find gear.

Point taken. Thanks smile

Had this with mine which was heat soak, hence I removed the cats and flushed the clutch fluid through with 2 litres of clean fluid. I don't think it had ever been changed. Not had the same problem again.
