I think I've more or less completed my playlist for the drive down. It seems to mostly be classic rock, with some contemporary metal, bits of the Le Mans soundtrack (cheesey but essential) and the odd indie or dance track. What's everyone else going with?

Some of mine...

Led Zep - Kashmir
Charles Trenet - La Mer
Hammerfall - Heeding the call
Moby - Extreme Ways
Iron Maiden - Aces High
Dambusters Theme (for disembarking!)
The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary
Primal Scream - Loaded
Allman Brothers - Jessica
Apocalyptica - Nothing Else Matters
Lynyrd Skynrd - Free Bird
Muse - Hysteria
Matt Monroe - On days like these
The Clash - I Fought the Law

You get the idea... Any top tunes to recommend?

My phone is loaded up with more than enough tuneage for the journey.

I'm currently thinking of stuff to upload to watch on the journey down, as i'm not driving!

Aside from keeping up the normal xenophobic British end, why the Dambusters?

Wouldn't Waterloo by ABBA be more relevent to the Frenchies paperbag

It's far from original I'm afraid. In fact I think I pinched the idea from a thread last year on this very topic.

Aside from general xenophobia - and that's probably a fair observation - it's there for something a bit stirring. The same with the rather symphonic metal. It's a momentous thing to help me focus on the awesomeness of Le Mans, rather than the mundanity of actually adhering to the speed limit on a foreign motorway.

Hmm, should probably add When The Levee Breaks. It's mostly a bit 'dad rock' but somehow seems appropriate.

My fecking CD player broke last year and I only had one CD it would actually read - occasionally - for the whole trip. Fortunately a new headunit with an USB stick has changed that. biggrin

Sound track for our trip will be an XK lump strutting its stuff. but I love the idea of the dam buster music for the role off the Ferry. That is unless like last time I went the temptation of the boys with straight through pipes being in a big metal box was just too much. smile

Is that a separate track or are you thinking of Baba O'Reily? Great track. That's on the list too, along with Won't Get Fooled Again. smile
