Try to think of the MOT as a safety check. On a recent MOT my Audi failed due to a loose brake pipe union. I'm glad it was found before I found it, the hard way.
If your TVR is running well, brakes pull up evenly and the handbrake kind of works, chassis isn't rotten and all the lights/horn work then you should be OK. (Most cars fail on stupid things like bulbs/horn/tyres which owners with half a brain check before they spend £40.)
My TVR has only ever failed one MOT - and that was 2 weeks ago (after 6 MOTs in my hands) due to a dodgy handbrake. All fixed now (needed a new caliper due to adjuster/caliper not playing ball). Again, I'm glad the problem was identified because the caliper was going South and I'd rather they told me instead of me finding out at Hall Bends or something.
