Well a friend went to look at something in an antique shop in York.

So there I was stood there, and ended up looking at a cabinet full of watches.

There were some very nice MeisterSinger watches, which I do love. Along with a nice selection of Omegas, Tudors that were mainly vintage.

Then I looked down and there was a shelf full of Poljots, with a Seiko Divers watch in the middle.

It turns out I slipped and landed on my bank card, walking out £95 lighter with it in my pocket.

So here we go...

I didnt know seikos were frowned upon in the realms of PH hehe

ETA: Are they frowned upon? I am with watches as I am with art, I do not know what is good, but I know what I like.

I don't think they are frowned upon, I'm not too fussed if they are. I like it.

Just bought on impulse, good impulse buy if you ask me.

Seiko divers like the OP's are well respected by all but the ignorant.

As for whether it was a bargain - I'd say the OP did OK, but they frequently go for £60 to £80 on TZ-UK etc. depending on condition & whether they come on a bracelet or rubber.

The only one of these that owes me more than £80 is the bead blasted one because I paid for the blasting.

Why are they all at the same time but the day / dates don't match???

Looks genuine (there are a few things fakes seems to have and this seems to not have them).

Is it that good a price, though?

Most watches look best photographed at 10:10 or 1:50 so the logo is "framed" & the date display not obscured. I didn't however, bother to fully synchronise the watches just to take a photo.

That's a nice collection there, I probably would have browsed on TZ normally. However I didn't set out to buy anything. I saw the cabinet full of watches and I had to walk away with something.

Nice collection you have there.

Great watch for not much money, yeah yeah, you might have got a better deal elsewhere if you were prepared to wait and buy unseen etc... for an impulse purchase where you actually see it and buy it I'd say you did very well.

Was being a troll, having looked at the Amazon thread, stumbled across this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seiko-Velatura-Chronograph...

Why so much money for what looks like a not very special watch?

Wierd. It has the diamonds on the face but even so the one without the diamonds is only £300. Velaturas are nice though I've got the ladies version.

Seiko are making some nice things at the minute, OK, so they might 'borrow' slightly. But they are nice.

I can't think of anything more understated and ace than a Grand Seiko Spring Drive Chronograph :

The spring drive produces an actual 'sweep'.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4s2_gjSy8yU&fea...

The price produces an actual 'How much !!??11?'.

Thread hijack is over now, as you were ..
