Cat wrap.

Is it inadvisable to put exhaust wrap on the manifolds/cats under the bonnet?
Or would this create heat-soak further back and damage the underbody?

Hi Simon, If you wrap the exhausts / cat area it may cause excessive heat transfere along the pipes, causing local hot spots which may result in cracking of the manifolds, more important is the fact that if the metal is wrapped it will cause it to pin hole / rot like hell as the stainless is not very rust resistant. A far better option is to remove the pre-cats altogether.

Can they be removed from the standard manifolds. or would I need to source de-catted manifolds?

Hi Simon, sorry for the delay... yes the cats can be removed from the standard manifolds, with a but of effort. There are quite a few threads on de cating if you use the search.
