Well folks, ive had enough of the 350z, plus hardly using the sylva striker so putting both on market, combining money to buy new car.

Looking at the Audi S3, but then I also love the VW Golf R32. Both must have the flappy paddles auto box due to my dodgy legs.

Looking to spend approx 17k, give or take a bit.

So, please, any pointers, whats best, worst, things to look for, things to do.

Know I can trust the PH massive to help, if only with my spelling and grammer.

Thanks folks

Pete

I would go for the VW. When I was looking at cars I felt that an Audi gave you a lot less for your money spec wise compared to a VW.

Too lazy to move your mouse and click on "SUPERB"?

Edit: Or you are referring to the fact that neither of us would actually buy such a thing?

The Golf for the engine note.

I would pick the VW, having owned both in the last number of years. Firstly VW don;t rip the arse out of servicing to such a degree that Audi do, secondly VW have a 6 cylinder engine compared to the 4pot audi have. It makes a difference, I vowed not to drive a 4pot a few years back but was forced to do so - it's not the same to be honest

R32 everytime.

As luck would have it I know a certain Kent Motor Company with a very shiny (DSG Flappy paddle) one in stock at the moment.

I hear he is a bloody nice chap too!

If you fancy the S3 make sure you have a long test drive. I had one for the weekend a year ago and I thought they had welded the wheels straight to the monocoque - amazingly hard ride. Might not be ideal if you have dodgy legs as you'll soon have a dodgy back too! wink

The DSG (0r S-Tronic as it's now known on Audi's...) was only available on the face-lift S3 (58-plate onwards) so you won't be able to get one for the budget. Which means your choices are R32 or Audi A3 3.2 Q.

I used to have the Audi, it's awesome and virtually identical to the R32 but it doesn't look as badboy. I went from the 3.2 DSG to an 08 plate S3, on which I couldn't spec S-Tronic. I was and still am a bit miffed about that. Should have waited 6 months for a face-lift.

Could you tell me the exact colour, is it doom blue?
Also is the parcel shelf missing because its not in the picture?
And is it just the light in the picture making it invisable, only there doesnt seem to be writing under the rear number plate... is there a reason they dont match like a crash? Many thanks

Nope, just seemed completely irrelevant when comparing S3s and VWs... Not a bad car, but completely different.

Are you interested in buying it? or just looking clever? Your slightly aggressive tone, makes me wonder.

But I did shamelessly plug my car in the forums, so I should be ready to defend my creditability when it is questioned.

Its Shadow Blue.
Parcel Shelf and Boot Carpet is missing and will be replaced when it goes to VW for a service.
The number plates are original VW dealer plates and it has not been in a crash.

Kent may i advise you edit your post before op reads it as it comes across quite aggresive when i think the op didnt mean to question your integrity !

Thanks, I take your point, but it was not the OP I was replying to.

It wasn't the OP putting the aggressive questions to Kent.......
