transaxle trouble

Hi Im looking int building a rwd mini with an engine in the front driving the rear wheels, space is limited at the front so i'm thinking a transaxle from the likes of an alfa 75 or a gtv, engine wise im not too fussed but it would have to be cheap the alfa 2.5 or 3.0 v6 fits the bill there. the reason for my post is advice from anyone who has used a transaxle in a conversion and what they came up against doing it. any advice and knowledge welcomed.
