Well had a lovely evening spent waiting 45 minutes for an estate agent to show us round a property tonight.

No phone call and no show.

Not happy at all.

Luckily we didn't have to travel to far.

I want to tell them to shove that house up there arses but Mrs Magpie really likes the look of it so no doubt she will want to make another appointment to view.
I think when we speak to them tomorrow we will just tell them how annoyed we were and that we are viewing other properties with other estate agents, and we might rethink about viewing thhis one again if non of the others tick all the boxes.

the house in question...

Viewing this at weekend...

Viewing this tomorrow...

And a 2nd viewing of this next week...

Any thoughts on the above?!

OT - but Brampton is where I grew up until aged 8, in the big house on the hill called Croft House on the other side of the old main road from where you're looking.

Memories - watching RAC rally cars go up the A69 at the end of the drive in the late 70s. Anyway, as you were...

Tis a small little world!

I went to school in the Manor garden property.

Well from a purely architectural standpoint, the last one looks most appealing. Closely followed by the first one.

But at the end of the day you need to see them to appreciate what the particulars don't tell you. Also, your own requirements will be of key importance - schools, commuting, proximity to things you need.

Have you spoken to them? I was "stood up" by an estate agent when I was looking for a flat. Turns out I was supposed to knock the door for the vendor to show me around. Unfortunately the estate agent had neglected to tell me that so I was hanging around outside for him.

Haven't had a chance to speak to them as it was an out of hours appointment.
We drove into the drive, knocked on the door, waited...no lights on or any sign of life, walked around the back and tried a diffentent door. Peeked through the windows, checked phones for signal and nothing.

The appointment was only booked and confirmed today so they can't have forgotten.
They had our phone number both mobile and landline so if they were running late i would have expected a call.

Lanercost primary, then Brampton Junior.

IIRC Manor Garden was called something else & the kids used to climb over the wall and smoke in our garden, until our Bulldog got a whiff of them and chased 'em off...

Put a note through the door saying their agent stood them up. Put a phone number for a private viewing. I'd be more than a little annoyed that people were getting stood up to view my place.

+1

Used to live in Bowness years ago - but I'd forgotten how cheap houses are in some places! (Not a criticism, just an observation. We had ours valued last week and it's frightening)

My mother-in-law lives in Bewcastle, so up there very regularly - a very nice part of the world. Regularly head up to Newcastleton for some mountain biking and a few beers at The Grapes.

Agreed - though it doesn't look like you get much garden for these family houses, one reason for prices being low.

I'd be surprised if the owners of the house wernt interested to know you were stood up. After all they'll be paying probably about £3000 for that service!

The last one is the one i would really like, think its stunning.
It would be a 20+ year labour of love though.
Current owner has lived there 55 years so needs decorated in our taste.
Plus its over budget.
Its also further to drive for the wife, less for me though!

The estate agent phoned today asking how the viewing went...
She was shocked/horrified that we had been stood up though.
Said she would see what happened but surprise surprise, we haven't heard anything back!

That's the one for you then smile

It's worth the labour of love for something you want and with decorating and renovation be something you could live in for many years.

I agree totally.

Furthermore given that it is the one with the greatest kerb appeal it will always be worth more. It looks like the proportions are pretty much in accordance with the golden ratio (width = 1.62 x height) and people are prepared to pay handsomely for such beauty.

I am quite jealous actually. Wish we could buy something as lovely as that for that price!
