Hey guys..

Took my Gtr for my first drive after taking delivery and it's fantastic....just the sound track alone
Just about melted my head.....

Anyways I was hoping to get some advice on my Cv joints and boots.....one is split and I am getting some
Metalic clicking sound when slowly turning.....after reading all the posts on this forum relating to this it seems
That this may well be my CV joints as the boot is badly torn as well.

Can someone give me some quick pointers on doing the replacement boot and how to check the CV's if they need changing Or just grease....very good with a spanner but never replaced these before.
Ultima gtr LS1 G50 box

ps: recommended jacking points....?

Hey Gunter, How did you go.

http://www.kirkhammotorsports.com/book_aoe/

see the half shafts page....
http://www.kirkhammotorsports.com/book_aoe/aoe_11....

this is about the only page that i know of the shows some photos of a Porsche cv shaft. (I assume the make up is the same as the GKN/LOBRO one in the Ultima)

remove bolts that hold the half shafts on at either end, should be a circlip under the end of that. Once you remove that and the clips the hold the rubber boot on the axle should come out. There may also be a cir clip on the inside of the rubber boot on the part that bolts onto the transaxle. Removing this would allow the cage/spider and balls to come out of that part.

You could re-build clean and grease it, and see if the noise goes away. If it doesent you will probably have to replace the joint as they don’t last long with no grease in it.

One of the guys that’s helping me with the social climber has a good relationship with one of the driveshaft places hear in Melbourne. He might be able to sought out some spares or be able to tell you what parts will fit. I’ll try and get in contact with him.

Also, They are talking about going for a spin through Mt Dandenong this Sunday after coffee if you are interested.
Not sure it i’ll be able to make it as i have to head south east for my Dads 60th.

Thanx Ryan.....stopped at Burson's today for the boot....but will have to get sn of the box and find out what Model
Porsche it came off.....but they do have them for Porsche.

There does not seem to be a heap of play in the CV joints.......so I was hoping to just grease and new boot but I will
Know more once it all comes apart.

Will be working on the house again and during breaks on the Ultima (and loving it..........) on the weekend.......so
