Le Mans lessons-learned?

Planning for my second year at Le Mans and just starting to think about the kit packing and itinerary. Thoughts from Le Mans veterans appreciated on the following...

1. What things will you take this year that you forgot or didn't think to last time?

2. What will you do/see that you did before that just has to be done again?

3. What will you NOT do/see again that you've done before that was a waste of time?

Any other thoughts welcome too. Last year I had a wicked time @ Speedchills B'jour with a big group, but always good to get the perspective of others to see how we can improve our time there. We've a mix of cars going and probably won't get stickered up sadly, but we'll still have a good laugh.

The one thing we've found which tends to help keep Le Mans 'fresh', is to not try and do the same things each year.

For example, last year we went down on the Wednesday for the first time and saw the extra evening of practice from all manner of different places. But we singularly failed to get down to Arnage or Mulsanne, so those are on the list for this year.

We also did the museum last year for the first time in ages, which was pretty interesting and worth a visit if you have time.

So things on the list this year include Tetre Rouge, the Big Wheel, Arnage at nigth, inside the Porsche curves down by BSJ and watching the pit-stops in the wee small hours of the night. But if we don't do *any* of them it will still be a cracking weekend.

As for stuff to take, well, we've mostly got that organised having been for a few years on the trot, and it largely depends on which cars are going and how much space there is in each one. And if all else fails, Carrefour / Decathlon / Mr Bricolage will provide

Anyone know how much the big wheel is? I expect it isn't proper fairground cheap but is it like 20 euro's a pop?

Can't remember how much it was the last time we went on there, but it wasn't *too* bad. But now, I'd guess at the *most* it's about €10 per person, but could (should....) be less.

But never let it be said the French don't know how to charge for things....

Almost worthy of a thread in itself, surely?

Just got my insurance extended to EU cover for the week, and starting to think about stuff. Off the top of my head I'd say:

• Passport
• Euros
• Driving documents - V5, certficate of insurance, MOT and counterpart license for the gendarmes
• Misc 'foreign' car stuff - headlamp converters, warning triangle, rave jacket, spare bulbs, GB sticker
• Atlas if I can find it - sure I bought one last year
• Updated maps in the sat nav
• Some Euros in change for the payage (or however you spell it)
• Wet weather gear
• Camera
• Suncream - you never know...
