fronts have about 7mm and rears about 6mm.

Rear tyre has a puncture. What to do?

I know you have probably already considered this, but here goes anyway.

Where is the puncture, could it be repaired?

Dont understand the problem. New is only 8, just change the one (assuming you cant repair it).

Depends on model, torsen diff then yes, ideally keep tyres as even as possible. Haldex diff shouldn't make any difference.

Haldex fitted to a3/golf platform cars with transverse engine, includes TT
Torsen fitted to all others.

No chance of it being repaired- well and truly knackered. Car is a 2009 TTS.

Won't matter then, Haldex diff so not permanent 4 wheel drive. Rears only driven as slip is detected in the fronts.

Guy at tyre place doesn't know his quattros. You'll be fine just changing one.
As others have said even if it was a torsen quattro (which it isn't) 1mm difference isn't going to hurt.

changing 1 is fine - tyres never wear 100% evenly anyway, add that to varying pressures etc and its common to have a couple of mm difference - the car will be fine, you'll never notice the difference..

Main dealer told me -
3mm front to back difference
1mm side to side difference

Having inconsistent tyre pressures will have more of an effect than 1mm tread depth difference. smash to people trying to con others out of money.

Wouldn't like to risk 3mm difference front to back, despite dealer assurances.
It's easy enough to just swap them round every 5,000 miles to keep them wearing even.
Just a bit of a large bill when a full set are needed, but i'm sure it's still much cheaper than a new centre diff.
