What will they drive?
Discussion
It always seems to be that whenever I am stuck in a queue of slow moving traffic going across country that the C
T at the front doing 40mph is in a Rover 200. Not only do they do 40mph along the NSL stretches but also continue at the same pace through 30mph villages (a pet hate of mine).
So, given that his POS will eventually go the same way as his prior Dolomite and Allegro what will all these doddery old f
ktards then turn too as their preferred mobile speed bump?
The monthly trip from Salisbury area to Grimsby using the A34/A43/A46 is a particular joy.

As for old Dolly's and Allegro's. Well there are still quite a few on the roads, in fact as a brand there are still a lot of old Rover, Morris, MG, Austin, BMC and BL cars from decades gone by that are presented for MoT's each year.

As for the 200, no idea what you are on about to be honest. But maybe you just end up following the exact same vehicle time and time again

Maybe you should get out of your village more.
As for the old Dolomites and Allegros, yeah I see loads every day

very funny. But considering I've just done 500 miles to Plymouth and back this weekend as well as commuting and average of 225 a day for the past 10 working days previous to that your comments are a little mute

As for the 200, well both my cousins have one an if they are being driven more sedately its like due to both of them having small children and not driving like a t
t.My brother also had a 200 BRM which was anything but slow and was a rather decent hot hatch.
As for the classics, well yes they are fairly common, in terms of classics. So compare, exactly how many 70's (or even early 80's) Jap and French cars do you see by comparison?
How many Gen 1, 2 and 3 Celica's do you see in the course of a week? Or how many Datson 120Y's?

No, now I'm convinced you're trollingDevil2575 said:
Nissan Micras or a nasty Korean heap typically.
Yes, our roads are crowded with old BL cars.
Can't remember ever seeing a Dolomite on the road and i've seen maybe two Allegros. I remember seing a Morris Ital about 15 years ago...

I admit, when compared to MK1 Focuses and Corsa's then, no such cars are not common. But in terms of "classic cars" they are maybe not so rare.

Congratulations on the commute, didn't realise it was a pissing contest. Mine was only to Muscat and Dubai last week, Prague this week and Cairo next.
Evidently all by car and stuck behind a Rover 200....

(That last bit was said with my tongue firmly in my cheek).

No, now I'm convinced you're trollingSadly I don't have the spreadsheet any longer, but this snippet from it showed that modern Rover/MG's seem by MoT standard's reliable.

Although the overall score for Rover was very middle of the table. When you looked into the actual figures it was evident that there where a large number of 'classic' and older Rover's being presented for MoT's yearly, which evidently are more likely to fail an MoT which thusly dropped the Rover overall figure to mid table. But it did show that that many older Rover/BL cars are still present.
This would certainly back up my observations with 2 Morris Minors very local, an MG Midget, MGB, my TR7, my cousins TR7 a handful+ of classic Mini's and many others.
And I know at the shows I'll be attending this month and next that I'll see plenty and good variety of BMC/BL cars and the like represented.

They're all less than 10 years old!
I saw an MGF parked on the side of the M3 today, steam coming out of the boot area. Evidently it had decided to eat its head gasket.
You see a lot of old BL/Rover cars around because of the nostalgic value placed on them by flat cap, tweed shirt wearing f
ktards with nothing better to do all day than fawn over their mustard coloured s
t heap. The garage owner who lives next to me loves them, head gasket replacements alone keep him in business.
