Looking to go on a diving holiday. Planning to go between Jan-May next year but am pretty flexible, ideally somewhere hot. Looking for somewhere that has more to do than just beach and diving. Any recommendations?

Red Sea! Guaranteed sunshine, warm & clear water, beautiful fish and not too far away. I've only ever been to Sharm-el-Sheikh but there isn't much to do there apart from beach/diving really.

Another vote for Thailand - loads to do apart from beach and diving as well. Also cheap as chips.

How much diving have you done? And how adventurous are you?

The Red Sea is the obvious choice, I prefer Dahab to Sharm but both are great for diving.

Zanzibar (Or Pemba if you fancy getting a bit further off the beaten track.) is good, with the opportunity for a safari or two on the mainland.

Mozambique's a bit more out there, but well developed in the south.

Go with Big Blue if you go there. Great company.

A mate of mine has just gone diving in Belize.

It's supposed to be awesome and is somewhere different.

If you go to Sharm, use Emperor Divers.

Sharm really does offer very good & varied diving.

Only just seen this....

What do you want to see, turbotongue?

How long do you want to go for?

Do you want to be in a hotel or on a liveaboard?

What sort of budget are you playing with?

If you can let me know what criteria are required I'd be happy to steer you in the right direction....

Thailand is the obvious.

Cross off Sharm El Sheikh unless you literally do want just sun and scuba, and nothing else.

Why is Thailand "the obvious"?

It's not the only place with decent weather in Jan - May, and there are plenty of places I would recommend in preference to it for good diving.
