Hi guys,

Was looking at Contisport Contact 3's at Camskill but they are listed as 'ContiSport Contact 3 (MO)'.

A browse of Continentals site reveals that this means they are 'for Mercedes models'.

I can think of no practical reason why this makes them unsuitable for my 5 Series. But before I make a uselessly expensive purchase, can anyone advise further?

My understanding, as long as the load rating is within the spec of your car its okay. I use to put normal conti's on my Merc E320 estate and not the MO versions. I went for the extra load or 97Y, the lower numbers (93) are for light cars.

MO stands for Mercedes Original and just means that that particular Tyre has been approved by mercedes engineers to compliment the handling and performace characteristics of their vehicles, they are perfectly suitable for other vehicles though. BMW approved Tyres carry a star symbol on the sidewall which means the same thing
