These get 31 per US Gallon. I have not heard the sound but there is no aftermarket like the Mustang one, so a good exhaust is close at hand. They had to do this to match the Camaro's 300 HP V-6.

Test drove one showing 23mpg last week.....that said it was a demo with 70ish miles on it and I presume everyone else was flogging it like me when they could.

What an improvement from the old unit, other than the lackluster noise compared to my 2010 V8 and the need to rev it, the car felt almost as fast.

The V8s are going to have what? I think 400-510 depending on which pick.

The 2011 V8 5.0 is going to be 400bhp, sadly I haven't got the chance to drive one yet.

My GT makes do with 315bhp and a shed load of torque- I don't know how I make do biggrin

That 400HP is a base canvas. The hyper-extensive, and relatively inexpensive, aftermarket can easily push that to 550-600HP.

A mate hired a V6 'stang in the States the other week. Said it was a total barge POS, all noise with no power whatsoever. FWIW.

Are you sure that wasn't the previous V6, which was a total barge POS?

I suspect so if it was a hire car... sorry am not privvy to the latest updates on the 2011 car - I take it they must be significant.

Gosh, that's quite an increase then - sounds impressive.

Yes, the old V8 was only 315, I think.
