Cheap one way car hire
Discussion
Morning all. Per the title, I'm looking for a cheap car hire deal to travel one way. I actually probably only need the car for 4 hours but I reckon I might be able to do car hire plus fuel for less than the train ticket and it will be quicker to drive also due to changes needed on the train journey.
Anyone know of any stellar deals on at the moment please?

Well, 10 hours since you posted I thought I'd give my penny's worth.
Can AVIS, HERTZ, Europcar e.t.c allow you to hire a car from one depot and drive to the next and leave it there?
Not really worth a penny was it!
Yes they will, subject to a fee for doing so. Can AVIS, HERTZ, Europcar e.t.c allow you to hire a car from one depot and drive to the next and leave it there?

And
Er
No, it wasn't.

To answer your question, yes you can do a one way hire - at a cost.
I regularly hire a car in Prague and drop it off at Vienna. (Not UK based I know but the principle is the same)
The big companies such as Hertz & Avis charge a proverbial arm and leg to do so, to discourage people people from doing so.
In my experience, Europcar are the most reasonable for one-way hire charges, around 100 euro on top of the rental charge), and as a consequence get all my business when travelling to Poland & Czech Republic.

Using the Europcar website you can hire a Hyundai i10 pick-up in Cambridge at 10am, drop off in Manchester city centre at 4pm for 50 quid!

I've got a similar reservation at 65 quid. That's the best I've found thus far.I regularly hire a car in Prague and drop it off at Vienna. (Not UK based I know but the principle is the same)
