headlight pod not lifting
Discussion
Have got 1 headlight pod that won't lift up when lights switched on. Other side is ok and both lights are coming on.
It is ok to wind up manually and then motor works to lower it when lights switched off.
Guess that earth connection is ok if it can power down and have tried swapping left and right relays and fuses but that doesn't make any difference.
Any suggestions on what else to check, or how to tell if its a motor or wiring problem?
Thanks.

It'd be a bit of a chew-on but you could swap the motor to the other side of the car and see if the defect follows it.

Had the same problem recently but in reverse, the light pod would open and not close.
If you pop the light unit out you will find two plugs, one for the lights and an identical one for the pod motor, there will also be two other seperate wires that also go to the pod.
I disconnected the two seperate wires from the pod that was not working and ran a feed from the two seperate wires on the pod that was working and it sorted it ( temporary/permenant fix)
Wedg1es diagram will help if you need to take it to bits, and is fantastic.
I actually figured this out after removing the non operating motor (which is like decorating your front room through you letter box) and plugging it into the working side.
It also pays to have a bit of tape and a marker to number the connections when you take them apart!!!

Electrician mate came round today and sorted the problem, There's 2 diodes in the top of each motor, one cotrols the up one controls the down, the up one had bit the dust. A trip to maplins and some new diodes at 18 pence each, fitted one and now both lights pop up as normal, time for a cold beer.
