So I need to buy a 730d for motorway miles circa 35k per year. I am looking for a 56 or 07 plate with circa 30-40k on the clock.

So is it worth buying from a main dealer with warranty or saving a bit and buying private / auction ?

Bmw are doing a two year warranty offer at the moment that I think is worth circa 3k at the moment which is tempting me. The cars I have looked at are as folows

Main dealer 56 plate 730dse 43k 19,795 would take circa 18ish

Private 56 plate 39k 730dse 42k 17k would take 16k

Dont now if its worth the bit extra for piece of mind and the warranty ?

any views ?

Also are the sports seats much better than the standard for loads of miles

Can't help re the sports seats but if it was me I'd pay the extra £2k for the dealer car - although the risk might be relatively low, any significant failure over 2 years and 70k miles (would the warranty cover 70k in 2 years?) is likely to swallow up £2k so the peace of mind would be worth it to me.

Lot of car for the money - sounds like a good option for pounding the motorways.

How about a nice 730d sport, 56 plate with 41k on it, has all the toys and the 20" V8 alloys on it, black on black?

Just been offered £19k trade in, but would sell it privately for that as I could then go and buy an X5 privately as well.

I pay £50 a month with warranty direct to cover it btw.

As that chap, I would second this, and suggest the following..

If you have warranty then dealer.
If you don't have warranty - then independent.

+1

And not just for the warranty, but also the level of preperation, and the mechanical and provenance checks you get with a BMW approved car.

I will get the proper spec. tomorrow, not sure what is standard on them??
It is my old mans car.
It has privacy glass, heated seats memory seats, nav, bluetooth, Logic7 sound but no sun roof.
