It is intentional, to block people from putting HTML code into the titles of threads.

I'm sure PH is not the first site on t'interweb to have to display HTML chars on screen...

We could escape the characters and it is what we do in the forum posts, but we do not in the title headers.

At the moment that is the way it is, but we will look into it in the future
