Hi all,

i have just collected a 58 plate 123d m sport couple (auto) and love it. however when i put it in reverse the wing mirror does not dip, i know you have to have the electric mirror switch at the drivers door, but it still does not dip.

i thought this feature came as part of the comfort pack??? i do not have folding mirrors, does this make a difference????

thanks for your help.

On the E46 (and I think the E90) you need to have the electric seat option for auto dipping mirror to work - I presume the 1 series is the same - so does your car have electric memory seats?

My '09 120D M sport also has this option. It's dipped before, although not every time!. I can't for the life of me work out how to make it work on demand!

Put the mirror adjustment switch to the right as if to adjust the drivers door mirror, if in the left hand position to adjust the passenger mirror, the dipping function is disabled.

Ah superb thanks! It's the opposite way round on the Golf so I tried it on the left. Didn't even think to try the other way!

i have just spoken to my local BMW dealer, you need to have folding ext mirrors option for the mirror to dip when reversing. which mine does not have frown

also when i purchased the car the BMW dealer told me to buy a 320d m sport coupe as it would hold its value better, i disagree, what are other peoples views?

Do you have iDrive? I am sure there is an option to enable / disable the option in there... I really don't think you need the folding mirror package.

Unless they've changed the spec/options list in the last year or so the reverse dip mirror is certainly only a feature if you have one of the folding mirror options.

I test drove a 1 series tonight, and was told by dealer that you need electric folding mirrors for this function to work. As someone above also said.
