absolute rubbish

maybe thats why Topgear gets the plaudits and 5th Gear is seen as second rate. With the 458, they really needed to devote the whole programme to it. What we got was Plato driving in the wet on the roads just outside Maranello. He could have been test driving a Stilo

The format needs to change, you can't cram all these cars into 30 mins.

So what I learnt was that the gear change was quick, it sounds good, traction is improved and it costs £170K. Just felt they missed an opportunity

yea total waste of an opportunity, looking forward to the Topgear review. There are some on here that pi55 and whinge about TG. But there always the first to watch it wink TG always showcases it supercars with fantastic cinematography and locations/settings. I cant remember when i have been ever disappointed with one of there supercar presentations.
last nights 5th gear was lame i think.

Do you remember Top Gear's review of the 911 GT2 wink? Clarkson just screamed a bit then jumped into a Galladro!

Totally agree about Fifth Gear though, lets hope the rest of the series is better!

Do any of you follow Tiff Needell on twitter? He had this to say last night

"Thanks for all comments. Please tell pistonhead we cant wait around for a dry day! Yes dogfights coming. Will find out about repeats ..."

http://twitter.com/tiff_tv

Looks like Mr Tiff Needell himself might be a lurker here smile

Personally I liked it, it was good to see the 458, yes could have been longer, maybe if they still had the hour long format it would have been. I for one am happy that 5th gear is still on Telly.

John.

Was that the Focus RS taking 7.3 seconds to get to 62mph bit?

I had to laugh at the Lewis Hamilton interview when he got asked if he was having one and if he was going to pay for it, he just said "no"!!
made me chuckle, perks of the job I guess!

Probably because the car is a reflection of ron dennis' personality. Whilst amazing technically, the styling is so derivative, I can remember walking round loughborough university 10 years ago, and seeing dozens of similar styled cars on thier automotive degree exhibition. And it isnt true that good looking cars cant be built nowdays, the lambo gallardo and ferrari 458 are lithe, hunkered and stunning in the flesh, this mclaren is not awful but not pretty enough. In fact it reminds me of the original Ascari KZ-1, that looked like it was styled by a commitee meeting.
