E46 strange high pitched noise - help!

Hi All,
Got a facelift 330 E46, and over the last couple of days have started to notice a high pitched noise coming from the front left - almost sounds like air is leaking from somewhere. The noice increases with revs, so am hoping(!) its just a hole in a pipe somewhere!
Anyone had anything like this before, or care to take a guess at what is causing it?!
