I just bought my E92 M3 from a dealer for the 1 year warranty, so getting 2 years, I would say yes!

For an M it is worth 8-900 quid as compared to taking out the approved warranty in year 2... do the sums.

is the two year warranty on new cars only or does it cover all auc as well? If so when does it come into effect?

It's on used cars. If it was on new they would be taking a year off a warranty!! New cars come with 3 year warranty.
