I have been selling some items via an online shop recently... When you get to the checkout you can either:

pay for 2nd class postage
pay for recorded next day delivery
pay nothing and collect from our office.

So Mrs Smith orders some items and pays for 2nd class postage...

Items are packaged up and rather than risking them getting lost in the post etc I took it upon myself to go out of my way and hand deliver her parcel to her house. Popped it through the letter box on the same day she ordered...thinking that she would be chuffed that her order arrived quicker than she was expecting!

A few days later I get a call from her saying she wants a re-fund on the postage because I hand delivered it and didnt pay the post office to do it.... She then started quoting me the sale of goods act which I thought was quite amusing...

Does she assume that it cost me nothing in time and fuel to hand deliver the package to her?... She effectivley recieved the more expensive delivery option for the same cost as a 2nd class option.

Told her I would get back to her as I was busy.... Think ignoring her is the best option! I just dont get her logic atall...

So with that in mind... anyone got any other amusing stories of customers demanding weird things?

What a shame - you make the effort, and she wants - what, 30p, back?!

Let's not forget the guy who made the thread complaining that he asked for 2 x 6" subways, and was very angry when they wouldn't charge him for 1 x 12" smile

Have had a client (who had been reffered to me by a well known car forum rolleyes) ring me F-ing and blinding calling me a fraud because that the dealer i referred them to for ordering their new Focus was demanding payment for the vehicle before the customer could take the car away..

I couldnt understand the frustration of the customer.

Turns out he had been offered 'Free 7 day drive away Service' (basically 7 day insurance free) and haad assumed this meant he could drive the car without paying for 7days..

I don't know how evolution allows these sorts to remain alive! Breathing must be a struggle.

Send a cheque for the refund but with no stamp. she'll have to drive to the post office and pay £1 + the stamp fee.

She'll complain to you, just say it must have fallen off.

Ha ha, that's awesome.

(this is no slight on the OP at all just hypothetical ) I think its also about communication, if you had sent an email just before donig it saying:

Dear Mrs Mental,

Due to unforeseen circumstances 2nd class postage is not available for this delivery. However, wee love our customers so much the package will be upgraded to same day courier delivery.

I bet she would have been pleased as punch. The last govt has made people being used to complaining about their rights unless they are told what to do. Can't take a photo in a public place cos of 'terrorism'? Oh ok then. Trip on a paving slab.? This is an outrage I WANT MY COPENSAYSHUN! I have been told I can get it by that nice man on the telly on the Chav-channel 666.

Welcome to dealing with the public.

If I thought about it, I'd have hundreds like this. However, refund them the postage, apologies profusely for ruining her day, and tell her if there's anything more you can do to help then please let you know.

Quite often, giving people above and beyond what they ask for makes them realise they're behaving like an idiot.

And at least there's no comeback, so you can move on to bigger and better things.

Do what they want, and move on.

(She'll be on a forum later complaining, it'll go down like the 6" / 12" sub thread....)

Well, depends really. If yu happen to live very close to the woman but still charged for delivery then maybe she could say she was charged and unnessary charge.

So the quesstion you haven't answered is: Is this woman customer really your wife? And you saw fit to charge her postage for her birthday present, didn't you?

Tight Arse.

wink

Any chance of repeat business? Just offer to knock it off her next order and remember she's an awkward boot.
