Burn Notice, Michael's accent last night?

First episode of the new series last night and can anyone tell me wtf was his accent supposed to be when pretending to be a miner in Kenya?

Rated up there with Dick Van Dyke and Meryl Streep!

It was a low point, not sure what it added to the character he was playing. Almost as bad as Fi's 'Orish' accent in the pilot episode, thankfully now dropped.
