Front door speakers....

Just took delivery of my new infinity Kappa 652.5i speakers. Look very nice, went to fit them into the car and they don't fit! I was under the impression that these were the ones to get for chimaeras? Is there a way that I am unaware of to get these into the doors? Has anyone else installed these?

I ended up having to make some 'adjustments' when the 16.5cm speakers didn't fit width wise. It's all sorted now, and they just about fit, but I wasn't happy for a while.

I can give you some tips if you like. Drop me a mail.

I put some rockford fosgate ones in mine, and they fouled the electric window motor, so I created an O-ring with black mains flex, and used that to stand them proud of the door.

Would like to do it properly with rings of MDF or something, but it's just one of those jobs I never get round to....

My Infinity speakers didn't fit either as the center point of the original ( I'm guessing slightly smaller ) speakers were positioned too close to the....umm what do you call it ? 'Sticky out thing' that holds the fag lighter and mirror adjuster. Wound up slicing off a cm or so of plastic surround of the speakers. Once in place they look great, but a bit worrying to do....

Diameter, the mounting disc seems way too big and overlaps the nice protruding door leathery bits by over a cm I reckon. Might see if I can take a hacksaw to them tonight and squeeze them in, though the shop may not be too happy if I need to return them... Actually saying that, if I remove any of the mounting disc the grille wont be held correctly - aagh! Do I have a weird door or something? My current pioneers are right up the front near the hinges, tucked right into the leather curvy bit.

Think the depth may be okay though...
