buying a z4, advice...
Discussion
hi,
buying a z4, have set my eyes on the 2.5 over the 2.2, but what should I look out for when going to view? anything that breaks usually over 60k miles?
im spending sub 10k...
i drove my second one the other day and it pulled right and left on braking and acceleration. Im pretty sure this isnt right?
cheers
Chris

Buy my 3.0. Problem solved! (and you can leave £1500 of your £10k in your pocket...)
Whether you want to consider my car or not, the 3.0 is the one to go for. Fuel economy will be the same, insurance will be very similar and you get much more performance. Purchase price is pretty similar also and the standard spec is better - 17s, sport suspension, electric leather seats etc.
Common problems -
Roof motors failing if the drain holes aren't kept clear.
DISA flap on the inlet manifold (replaced mine at 75,000 miles)
Airbag warning light. Either needs an ECU or is just a problem with the passenger sensor cable. Mine has a cable break and comes on once every six months or so (either take the seat out and repair the break or pay a specialist £15 to reset the light).
That's about it really. Everything else is wear and tear as with any other car.
If still on runflats they are quite sensitive to camber in the road. A decent set of non run-flats largely cures this (e.g. Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3s).
Spec wise, leather is pretty essential for resale (standard on the 3.0).
Heated seats and cruise control are desirable, as is a higher specification of speakers (the standard fit ones are pretty average)
Look on the Z4 forum for more info.
