I'm in the process of trying to buy my first property. One particular agent has a lot of properties locally including two in the same development that I'm very interested in viewing.

This is where the fun starts. I originally made enquiries with the agent in question about a week ago, halfway through starting to take some details off me about my requirements the line went dead. I called the office back straight away and got through to someone else who said the person I was dealing with couldn't take my call and assured me he'd return my call as soon as he was able. I heard nothing.

This week I made a request to view the properties through the agents website, I've heard nothing. Yesterday morning I called the agents office, the phone rang out and was eventually transferred to head office who once again assured me that someone from the appropriate office would return my call. Still nothing.

I've got no reason to believe that there's any reason why they wouldn't specifically want to deal with me, I've never made enquiries with them before and there's nothing unusual or suspect about my requirements, not that I've ever really been able to tell them anything. I've viewed quite a few properties now with other agents and not had any issues.

In any other area of life I'd just think stuff it and walk away, I've not purchased quite a few cars in the past because I wasn't happy with the dealers attitude. It's somehow a bit different with houses though and annoyingly they've got a large amount of the properties in the local area.

Anybody had a similar problem? Discount them and move on?

Go and see them. They can't fob you off then.

And whilst its annoying having to deal with st service, you're not paying for it, the vendor is so who cares?

this kind of thing really winds me up. it is simply polite and maybe good business practice to follow up calls.
obviously do not need the business

Perhaps it's the car sales approach, where they think if you're keen enough then you'll come in?

Allegedly the ending of HIPs and the the threat of CGT on house sales have both brought a flood of property onto the market, so perhaps they're just mad busy?

Maybe, I will try and pay them a visit at some point. It's a little inconvenient as most of my evenings and lunch breaks are filled up with other viewings at the moment and I'm busy for the next few weekends. Booking viewings over the phone seems to have worked just fine for every other agent I've dealt with so far. Ho-hum.

on the one hand they may well make the process of buying even more stressful than it often already is.

on the other if they're ste and aren;t espacially looking after their clients there may be a bargain to be had...

I wouldn't miss out on I property I liked just because of poor service. I'd hound them.

if the agent hasnt introduced you to the vendor then why not put a letter through vendors door, you may also save money too then.
