Last year me and a couple of mates had a long weekend up in Yorkshire, went to Norry Battys home town and then to York for a few beers.

Planning on another long weekend soon and need another place to go for a long weekend. It was left to me to come up with some ideas this week but i've failed miserably.

Where would be a good town/location to visit for three lads( middle aged blokes) to go for something to see/do during the days and have a few beers at night ?.

Live on the south coast so don't suggest Brighton/Hastings/other seaside towns in the south !!

Tonker makes a good suggestion.
In a similar vein, Ambleside is good. A bit of exercise then a good restaurant.

Also, closer to home, try walking a stretch of the Thames Path.
Henley, Marlow, Windsor etc. Park your car, walk and get a train back to the car.

Black Mountains?

Good roads, walks and food. Accommodation in Abergavenny, Crickhowell etc or try The Bell at Skenfrith.
