Just a heads up about my experience with this.

The drivers side fold decided not to work just clicking away and not folding. The unfold worked fine. So go on eBay and buy a new replacement mirror as a complete unit. get it home fit it in seconds and then try and put my original shell on it. No dice, it was incompatable with BMW original shells so have now sent it back. Pity as it looked identical but for some reason the shell did not fit.

So will go to BMW when I get back. If you have black shells you are fine as they include them.

So the moral is sometimes OEM is the only way. Unless someone knows better of course.

It sounds silly, but you weren't trying to fit it upside down were you?
I got caught out by that.

Nope. I work for MINI and thier are many variations of mirrors and mirror caps wich i guess ur calling the shell. They all look exactly the same but they do vary slightly in size and shape. The key is to look at the part number which is under the mirror cap on a sticker. If you dont have the old mirror, take the mirror cap off the other side and get that number but the last digit is different. For example. Driver mirror 2756670 Passenger mirror 2756671 or 2756669.

Hope this helps

Thanks for that. Do u know how much a new mirror assembly will cost?

I didn't get it upside down - wish it was that simple.
